As my time in Ethiopia is beginning to disappear from my immediate vision and my thoughts begin to circle back to what Madrid summer living has in store, I find myself lost in the endless possibilities that life has to offer. My time in Ethiopia has been nothing but positive and I can confidently say that everything has gone much better that I ever could have hoped.
For the past few days my brother and I have been writing away from behind the 5 meter tall lake front glass windows of the Haile resort in Awassa, Ethiopia.
Though my brother has been in his line of work for the past 3 years now, each season as well as the school and library buildings that fall within are dependent on the funds that can be raised.
And this everyone is dependent on the writing done. Intentions, goals and objectives, genuine hopes for some, must be turned into writing on paper, and then passed off to other writers specializing in finding the funds to turn them into a reality. So from our the hopes of the people to the minds of the creators, then to the hands of the writers, and lastly to the eyes of the founders, from here on out its writing season, and we are all doing our best to bring our good intentions to life.
So as we wrap up our writing time here in Awassa and head back to Addis for my last few days, I’ll do my best to take in all the beauty Ethiopia has to offer. Just enough to leave me wanting more though, as if everything goes according to plan, I’ll be back come early September, just in time for bee season.
